350 International day of climate action

Date:
Wednesday, 30 September 2009 1:00am - Saturday, 24 October 2009 1:00am

The 24th of October will be an International day for climate action. The day is run by the 350 movement. 350.org is a global movement which, as its name suggests, calls on global decision makers to aim to return to a concentration of no more than 350ppm CO2 eq in the atmosphere (we are currently at almost 390ppm). This is necessary to prevent runaway climate change.

They have initiated what will - hopefully - be the biggest global action on climate change, which will take place on October 24 and will involve more than a thousand local actions around the world incorporating the number 350 in one way or another.

Some examples– 350 cyclists cycling for 35km; people spelling out 350; yogis doing climate-inspired yoga followed by $3.50 margaritas in venues within 350 paces of the event!

If your society/collective is interested in running an event, check out www.350.org/action-ideas for some great event ideas!

Let's get involved!!
